Zoo Veterinarian

The Roosevelt Park Zoo is hiring for the position of Zoo Veterinarian. This is a full-time, benefitted position employed through the Minot Park District.

We are seeking an individual who possesses a high-level of professionalism, energy and self-motivation to provide quality veterinarian care for the animals at Roosevelt Park Zoo. This position has the direct responsibility and accountability for providing veterinarian care and preventative health program according to industry standards and AAZV best standards. Job responsibilities include: all aspects of veterinarian care both preventative and emergent, management of clinical caseload, managerial oversight regarding the species specific dietary and nutritional needs of animals. Other responsibilities include: detailed medical record keeping (ZIMS), leadership skills needed to provide zookeeper education and instruction, mentoring of veterinary interns and students. The Veterinarian serves as a member of the Zoo’s Animal Welfare Committee. Candidate must have strong attention to detail, ability to multi-task and forecast veterinarian needs of animals.

Must be a graduate of accredited veterinary medical college with DVM, VMD or equivalent. Candidate must be able to secure State of North Dakota Veterinary Medical license and DEA licensing. Must also be accredited by USDA’s National Veterinary Accreditation Program (NVAP) Category II Veterinarian. A wide array of knowledge and experience working with exotic and domestic species, both large and small animals, is preferred.

Veterinarian Technician (Temporary)

The Roosevelt Park Zoo is hiring for the position of Veterinarian Technician. This is a part-time, temporary position with employment through the Minot Park District.

This position will aid in veterinarian care and preventative health care for zoo animals under the direction of the Interim Zoo Veterinarian. This is a temporary position to assist Interim Veterinarian while the permanent position of Zoo Veterinarian is being filled (approximately 4-6 months duration).
This position will assist in medical procedures, maintain the medical facility and medical equipment, perform testing using CBC/Chem machines and routine fecal examinations, and assist with dispensing of medications as prescribed by the Veterinarian.

Public Programs Manager

We are seeking an individual who possesses a high level of professionalism, energy and managerial skills to supervise the Zoo’s guest services operations including: gift shop, admission, concessions, and kiddie train operations. This position will supervise, schedule and train seasonal guest service staff team members. This position also works to develop a robust volunteer and docent program and coordinates the Zoo’s intern program.

The ideal candidate must be able to multi-task various duties in a fast-paced work environment to provide a high-quality zoo experience for our visitor’s helping to further the mission of the Roosevelt Park Zoo. Must have good customer service, communication skills, attention to detail, accuracy in handling monies and ability to work with various groups of people in a team focused environment.

Bachelor’s Degree in Business Administration or a related field and minimum two-years’ experience supervisory role or an equivalent combination of education and experience is required.
