For generations, we have strived to offer enriching experiences that are engaging for all people, all ages and all abilities, while also providing the highest level of care for our animals. We create memorable moments not simply through what we do, but in why we do it. Ultimately, we do what we do for you, our community.

Often called the ‘gem’ of Minot, the zoo draws more than 90,000 visitors annually and reaches more than 10,000 students through regional education and outreach programs. No place can fascinate, inspire, connect and impart knowledge about nature and wild species on the scale of a zoo.

Now is the right time to invest in the Roosevelt Park Zoo. Now is the time we’re asking our community to support us to do what we do better. Now is the time for a New Habitat for a New Century, taking us through the next 100 years.

Roosevelt Park Zoo has a tradition of excellence in North Dakota. We are among only 23% of zoos in North America accredited by the Association of Zoos & Aquariums (AZA), the highest accreditation standard in the world. Our AZA accreditation standards are ever evolving to address operational viability, animal welfare, public education and conservation stewardship. To continue our legacy, we must be vigilant toward continued improvement. Now is time for us to improve our aged 1970s era cat complex with modern habitats designed for these magnificent big cats, habitats that are also dynamic for our visitors.

Our Timeline

Prior to 2011, we had master plan goals to address these 40-year-old exhibits. We have rebuilt from the devastation of the 2011 flood. As Minot invests in city flood protection, the Roosevelt Park Zoo is working to evolve with those plans and safely embrace the Mouse River. Your timely gift will ensure the zoo continues as the best living institution for wildlife and conservation education in our region.

The Roosevelt Park Zoo Centennial Capital Campaign is a sure investment in the culture of our community, enriching lives in the greater Minot area. As a favorite tourist destination in North Dakota, your investment in the zoo will help strengthen our local economy as we work to draw more tourism to the Magic City. The Roosevelt Park Zoo is owned and operated by the community of Minot through the Minot Park District. The Minot Zoo Crew has committed to the project the largest gift in the non-profit’s history: $500,000. You can have confidence local leadership is dedicated to this important project.

Momentum around the plan is already inspiring funding. A $1 million grant from the Minot Community Facilities Fund and another $500,000 from the Minot Area Community Foundation (MACF) are providing this project a strong start toward its $5 million total cost and ensures we are able to break ground in 2018. You are invited to build upon this momentum, knowing your charitable gift will make a significant difference.
