Zoo Explorers Class

Come explore your wild side!

There’s always an adventure waiting for you at the zoo with a new Zoo Explorers topic to discover each month. Each topic will uncover a new and fascinating aspect of the zoo through hands on learning. Drinks and a light snack will be provided at each session. Register early as classes are likely to fill up quickly.


January 27th Class

Every wonder why the animals at the zoo get balls and other toys? We call these toys enrichment. In January’s series you’ll discover how our animals play at the zoo. Learn how we use enrichment to stimulate an animals natural senses and why enrichment is so important. In this unique class kids will also build enrichment for our resident animals.

Age: Ideal for ages 6-14 (all ages welcome; make it a family event and bring the whole gang)
Fee: $12 for members / $15 for non-members

February 24th Class

Ever wonder what it’s like feeding all of Roosevelt Park Zoo’s resident animals. This Zoo Explorers class will explore what it takes to feed all 170 animals at the zoo. Enjoy donuts while learning about the diets of some of the zoo’s most popular animals. The fun doesn’t end there! We will take a behind the scenes look at the zoo’s commissary where animal diets are made.
